ABOUT THE SESSION
The Graphic History Company serves as a dynamic hub for diverse, historical, and culturally rich content. This year’s presidential elections is one of the closest in recent memory and undoubtedly the most important one in our lifetimes. It is not an understatement to say that it will change the course of history. Voting, of course, is the key. That is why we are focusing on voter education and outreach efforts in this historic election.

Our guests will include Detria Everson, President and CEO of the John and Lillian Miles Lewis Foundation; Shawna Vercher, a board member of Dialogues in Democracy and Sree Sreenivasan, President of the South Asian Journalists Association.

Detria will focus on the Foundation’s work to register high school students and encourage them to vote, particularly at Drew Charter School in Atlanta. She will also talk about the work of the Foundation in carrying on Rep. John Lewis’ commitment to civic engagement.

Shawna Vercher will talk about voter education and outreach efforts in Florida and North Carolina.

Sree Sreenivasan will talk about efforts to reach out to the South Asian Community particularly in swing states like Georgia and Pennsylvania.

The conversation will be hosted by Professor Walter Greason, the Dewitt Wallace Professor of History at Macalester College and Managing Partner (Writer & Historian) for The Graphic History Company.
